Lindsay
The town of Lindsay is a growing community of about 25 000 on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes region of Southern, Ontario. In June of 2007 festivities at Victoria Park and the Armory in the heart of the town were enjoyed in celebration of Lindsay's 150th Anniversary.
Lindsay is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway, a canal system that connects central Ontario with both Lake Ontario and Lake Huron. The waterway flows right through downtown Lindsay at Lock #33 providing a perfect place to dock and enjoy a stroll along the paths of beautiful McDonnell Park. Visitors can browse the quaint shops lining Kent Street and wander into one of Lindsay's diners for a bite to eat.
Take a drive to uptown Lindsay every Wednesday afternoon to see a display of classic cars. Car buffs should be sure to catch the Annual Classics on Kent in July.
Lindsay's weeklong Central Exhibition in September is a tradition of over 150 years. Families from near and far come to enjoy the Ferris wheel, carnival games, baking contests, prize winning livestock and delicious treats.
With several golf courses just a short drive from the Inn and dozens of fishing spots tucked away to discover, the Kawartha Lakes is the perfect destination for a 'guys only' weekend away.
Ladies are just as likely to enjoy a visit. Spoil yourself at a local spa and explore the unique shops in town. The relaxing atmosphere at the Inn lets the stresses of daily life disappear and makes for a wonderful 'girls night' hideaway.
With an abundance of laid back leisure activities and historical sites to be seen, Lindsay is sure to provide guests of all ages and interests with an enjoyable stay.
Kawartha Lakes Region
In addition to the array of cultural and historical sites in Lindsay, the entire Kawartha Lakes region offers a natural wealth of uniquely Canadian landscape.
The Kawartha Lakes Inn offers a central location from which you can explore the National Parks and conservation areas that surround Lindsay. The winter months are just as entertaining with snowmobile trails, ice fishing and snow shoeing trails nearby. It is no wonder why the region was named 'Kawartha', a Mississauga word meaning 'bright waters and happy lands'. The Kawartha Lakes Trails take you right into a natural habitat where hundreds of species of wildlife and breathtaking views can be seen. With the metropolitan lifestyle becoming increasingly popular, the refreshing change in scenery and pace will provide you with a rejuvenated spirit and an inspirational experience.
The Kawartha Lakes Inn is a proud member of The Ontario Accommodation Association and The Chamber of Commerce.
